Get involved

There is a way for everyone to help.

Anyone can give toward a winter survival kit. Companies can bring a team to pack kits on January 16, 2027, and companies, schools and faith groups can run their own drive of new items and deliver it to us in bulk.

Give toward kits

Give as an individual or as a group. $50 helps build a Winter Survival Kit, including a sleeping bag and backpack, for someone facing winter outside. You can also start a fundraiser and share your own link with family and friends.

Bring your company team

Company teams pack the kits at the January 16, 2027 event. A company donates to bring its team, and teams run from 3 people to 15 and up. The For Companies page has the details and the request form.

Run a bulk drive of new items

Companies, schools and faith groups can run their own drive of new kit items and deliver it to us in bulk. Every item has to be new, for hygiene and for dignity, and the full kit list is on the Project Winter Survival page. Tell us what you have before you start.

The January event is for company teams, and we are not able to accept items or homemade kits from individuals. On your own, the way to help is to give toward a kit or start a fundraiser. Making your own care kits to hand out? Here is our checklist.

Running a drive? Where to buy the items

New items, wholesale prices

Kit items have to be new. They do not have to be full retail. The Bargains Group sells the socks, hygiene supplies, and sleeping bags that go into our kits at wholesale, with no minimum order, so the same money buys more kits. The Bargains Group was founded by our founder, Jody Steinhauer, and has supplied kit items since the beginning.
