Project Water – water for the homeless

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 9:30 a.m., at 890 Caledonia Road, over 150 social service agencies, outreach providers and homeless shelters will receive in excess of 300,000 water bottles and 3,000 summer survival kits in an effort to arm frontline relief organizations with lifesaving resources to reach out to the homeless in extreme summer weather conditions.
There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews with the assisting officers and organizers at a news conference at The Bargain Group, 890 Caledonia Road, starting at noon.
The Toronto Police Service, and 13 Division, and have been involved in this cause for over eight years. Our community-minded sponsors, which include Nestle Waters Canada, Canada Cartage, The Bargains Group, and Home Depot, along with officers from Traffic Services and Auxiliary Officers from the Community Partnerships and Engagement Unit, will be on hand to help distribute water and aid to the homeless.
Project Water is an Engage and Change program committed to helping those who are less fortunate endure the hardships of summer by providing such necessities as bottled water, a re-usable water bottle, sunscreen, hats, toiletries and various first-aid items. Since its inception in 2000, Project Water has placed in excess of 2,000,000 bottles of water into the hands of Toronto and surrounding area homeless people.
