On Friday the 6th of February, 2015, members of the Cobourg Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Port Hope Police Service were on hand at the Cobourg Police Service in partnership for Project Winter Survival. An initiative of non-profit charity Engage and Change, Project Winter Survival helps the homeless and less fortunate survive during the frigid winter months through the distribution of Winter Survival Kits to those in need.
Over the last 15 years, Project Winter Survival and its team of volunteers and donors have assembled and distributed more than 21,000 Winter Survival Kits to homeless throughout the GTA and beyond. The survival kits which contain items such as sleeping bags, clothing, food, and personal care items often make the difference between life and death.
