What your company's donation builds

A company donation to Project Winter Survival buys new kit items at wholesale and gets the packed kits to more than 200 front-line agencies across the GTA, and the kits are funded in your company's name1. Your logo goes on the partners wall at engageandchange.org, the day is photographed if your team packs, and receipts for donations are issued through the Unity Values Foundation1.

We don't publish team prices. Tell us roughly how many people you would bring, and the 2027 package comes back by email with what each level includes.

Where it goes

From your company's donation to an agency, in five steps.

1

Items, bought at wholesale.

Our volunteer board sources the items each year, 30+ new items per kit, from a sleeping bag and a knapsack to socks, a toothbrush and an insulated cup1. Buying at wholesale means each dollar buys more than it would at a store. $50 helps build a kit1.

2

Delivered before January 16.

Every item has to be bought and in place before the pack, which is why companies book from October to December1.

3

Packed in one day.

Company teams pack the kits on Saturday, January 16, 2027, and the last pack filled 3,500 in a single day1. If your team comes, your own people pack the kits your company funded.

4

Matched to agency requests.

Agencies apply by December 1, one application per organization, and first priority goes to front-line service providers2. Requests run to 30,000 kits a year against 3,500 packed, so every year some go unfilled12.

5

Handed out by agency staff.

Finished kits go to more than 200 front-line agencies across the GTA, including shelters, Out of the Cold programs and outreach programs, and their staff give the kits to people they already work with1. In 2026, Toronto Police Service helped with distribution3.

"After making two trips to fit 40 survival kits and 40 sleeping bags in my tiny hatchback, there are already several guys out on the streets of Toronto this morning with warmer hands, necks and heads."

Sarah, staff member at a Toronto community agency1

Teams also get photos from the day, which we send afterwards for your internal update or your careers page. Event sponsors also get a line in the 2027 Spotlight strip on our homepage1.

Logos go up after the pack. The partners wall is the sponsor logo grid on our Project Winter Survival and For Companies pages, where Scotiabank, CIBC, RBC and KPMG already appear, and Engage and Change is a registered charity, number 80541 8647 RR00011.

For your report

A paragraph you can use afterwards.

Someone will need to write this up for an internal update, a CSR report or the board. Every line below is backed by a figure on this site, so you can lift it as written and fill in the two blanks.

In January 2027, (your company) funded Project Winter Survival kits through Engage and Change, a registered Toronto charity, and (number) of our staff packed kits at the January 16 pack alongside other company teams. Each kit holds 30+ new items, including a sleeping bag and a knapsack. The kits went out to more than 200 front-line agencies across the GTA, which ask Engage and Change for up to 30,000 kits a year.

If your team packs, the photos go with it.

Before you sponsor anything

How to sponsor a charity event: six questions to ask first.

These work for any charity, ours included. Get the answers in writing before the money moves.

  1. What does the money buy? For us, new kit items bought at wholesale, and getting the packed kits to agencies1.
  2. Who receives what it buys, and how are they chosen? Front-line agencies across the GTA apply by December 1, and front-line service providers get first priority2.
  3. What is the date, and when do you need our answer? The pack is Saturday, January 16, 2027. Companies book October to December, because every item has to be bought and delivered before the pack1.
  4. What recognition is included, item by item? Ours is the table above. The package lists what each level includes.
  5. How will the payment be receipted? Ask before you pay, and put the answer in front of your finance team. Our receipts for donations are issued through the Unity Values Foundation1.
  6. What will you have to show for it afterwards? From us: photos if your team packs, your logo on the partners wall, and the paragraph in section 5 with your numbers in it.

Request the package

Request the 2027 sponsorship package.

On the For Companies form, tick "Sponsoring the 2027 campaign" or "Bringing a team to the January 16 event," give a rough headcount, and the package comes by email from [email protected]1. Can't make January 16? Sponsor the event, and your money funds kits that other company teams pack.

Questions people ask

The short answers.

How do I sponsor a charity event in Toronto?

Ask the charity for its sponsorship package, check what the money buys and what recognition is included, and confirm how the payment will be receipted. With Engage and Change, you send the request form on our For Companies page, choose a team or the event, and book between October and December for the January 16, 2027 pack1.

How much does it cost to sponsor a team?

Team levels are not on the website. They come in the 2027 package, with what each level includes, once you tell us roughly how many people you would bring. The one figure we publish is that $50 helps build a kit1.

Do companies get a tax receipt for sponsoring a charity event?

With Engage and Change, receipts for donations are issued through the Unity Values Foundation. Engage and Change is a registered charity, number 80541 8647 RR00011.

Where do the kits go?

To more than 200 front-line agencies across the GTA, including shelters, Out of the Cold programs and outreach programs, which hand them to the people they work with. Agencies apply by December 1 and ask for up to 30,000 kits a year12.

What if our team can't come on January 16?

Sponsor the event instead, and other company teams pack the kits your money funds. A company that wants its own people packing can also run its own kit pack on its own date through KITS FOR A CAUSE, who supply the items and handle the logistics1.
